Equestrian sports, often hailed as the epitome of elegance and precision, offer a fascinating blend of athleticism and artistry. From the exhilarating show jumping competitions to the intricate movements of dressage, these sports not only showcase the remarkable bond between horse and rider but also captivate audiences around the world.

The thrill of show jumping

Show jumping is one of the most thrilling disciplines in equestrian sports. Riders and their horses navigate a course of obstacles, aiming to clear each jump without knocking down any rails. The sport demands a unique combination of speed, agility, and precision. Successful show jumpers must possess exceptional skills in guiding their horses through a series of jumps while maintaining control and speed. The excitement of watching a horse and rider team soar over fences and negotiate challenging courses captivates spectators and highlights the sport’s dynamic nature.

To excel in show jumping, riders need to understand their horse’s strengths and weaknesses, developing a tailored strategy for each competition. Training often involves a rigorous regimen of practice and conditioning to ensure that both horse and rider are prepared for the demands of the course. This commitment to excellence reflects the broader appeal of equestrian sports, where the harmony between horse and rider is both an art and a science.

The art of dressage

Dressage, often referred to as “horse ballet,” emphasizes the elegance and precision of the horse’s movements. In this discipline, riders guide their horses through a series of predetermined movements, known as “tests,” which are judged on accuracy, smoothness, and the horse’s responsiveness. Unlike the fast-paced nature of show jumping, dressage requires a deep connection and understanding between horse and rider. The sport is renowned for its emphasis on grace and fluidity, showcasing the horse’s ability to perform complex maneuvers with apparent ease.

The training process for dressage is meticulous, involving countless hours of practice to perfect each movement and transition. Riders must demonstrate exceptional skill in communicating with their horses, ensuring that every movement is executed flawlessly. Dressage competitions are often highlighted by the seamless integration of horse and rider, embodying the essence of this elegant sport.

The versatility of eventing

Eventing is a multifaceted equestrian sport that combines elements of dressage, cross-country, and show jumping. It is often described as a true test of a horse and rider’s versatility and endurance. The eventing competition is structured to evaluate a horse’s performance across three distinct phases: dressage, cross-country, and show jumping. Each phase challenges different aspects of the horse’s abilities and the rider’s skills, making eventing a comprehensive test of their partnership.

In the cross-country phase, riders navigate a course of natural and often daunting obstacles, testing their horse’s stamina and bravery. The show jumping phase then assesses precision and control, while the dressage component focuses on refinement and technique. Eventing demands a high level of adaptability and resilience from both horse and rider, showcasing their ability to excel in diverse challenges.

Optimizing your equestrian sports blog with SEO

For those looking to attract more readers to their equestrian sports blog, effective SEO practices are essential. Incorporating relevant keywords, such as “show jumping,” “dressage,” and “eventing,” can significantly improve your blog’s visibility on search engines. To further enhance your SEO strategy, consider linking to authoritative sources that offer additional insights into equestrian sports. For instance, Dr. Seo provides valuable resources and tips on optimizing your website for search engines. The evolution of equestrian sports

Equestrian sports have a rich history that spans centuries, evolving from ancient traditions into the sophisticated disciplines we see today. Originally, horseback riding was primarily a means of transportation and warfare, but it gradually transformed into a refined competitive sport. The development of modern equestrian sports has been shaped by advances in training techniques, equipment, and a deeper understanding of horse welfare.

In the early days, equestrian competitions were often informal and regionally focused. As the sport gained popularity, formalized rules and standardized practices were established, leading to the creation of internationally recognized competitions and federations. Today, equestrian sports are governed by organizations such as the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), which oversees global competitions and ensures adherence to high standards of fairness and safety.

The role of technology in equestrian training

Technology has significantly impacted the world of equestrian sports, providing new tools and insights for improving performance and training. From advanced riding simulators to wearable sensors, technology offers a range of innovations that can enhance the training experience for both horse and rider.

One notable advancement is the use of video analysis software, which allows riders and coaches to review performances and identify areas for improvement. By analyzing footage from competitions or training sessions, riders can gain valuable insights into their technique and make data-driven adjustments. Similarly, wearable sensors can monitor a horse’s biomechanics, providing detailed information on movement patterns and helping to prevent injuries.

The integration of technology into equestrian training not only improves performance but also contributes to the overall welfare of horses. By closely monitoring their physical condition and performance metrics, riders can ensure that their horses are in optimal health and receiving the best possible care.

Let’s get started on this captivating adventure of crafting Instagram captions that truly resonate with the horse-loving community.

Understanding Your Audience

To craft captivating Instagram captions for horse lovers, it’s essential to start by understanding your audience. Not all horse enthusiasts are the same, and Instagram caters to a wide variety of equestrian interests. Tailoring your captions to your followers’ preferences will help you connect on a deeper level and create content that truly resonates.

Segmenting the Horse-Loving Community on Instagram

The equestrian community on Instagram is as diverse as the many horse breeds that exist. There are riders, trainers, breeders, casual enthusiasts, and more. It’s important to recognize these segments and consider who makes up the majority of your followers. Are they passionate equestrians who compete in events, or are they simply horse lovers who admire these magnificent animals from afar? Your captions should speak to the unique interests of your specific audience.

Identifying Common Interests and Preferences

Within the broader equestrian community, there are shared interests and preferences. Some may be passionate about dressage, while others focus on Western riding, show jumping, or horse care. Identifying the common themes and passions that unite your followers will allow you to create captions that cater to these shared interests. This alignment will foster a sense of community and belonging among your followers.

The Role of Captions in Connecting with the Audience

Once you’ve segmented your audience and identified their interests, you can leverage captions to connect with them on a personal level. Consider how your experiences, insights, and emotions align with your audience’s interests. Your captions should reflect this shared connection, making your followers feel like they’re part of something special.

Captions are not just a description of the image; they are a bridge between you and your followers. They should convey your genuine passion and understanding of the equestrian world. Whether it’s a thrilling riding adventure, a heartwarming moment with a beloved horse, or the anticipation of an upcoming competition, your captions should invite your followers to share in these experiences.

By understanding your audience’s segments and preferences, you can tailor your captions to resonate with the specific interests and passions of your followers. The more they see themselves in your content, the stronger the bond they’ll feel with your Instagram account. Now, let’s move on to exploring the art of storytelling and how it can elevate your captions to the next level.

The Art of Storytelling

One of the most powerful tools in crafting engaging Instagram captions for horse lovers is the art of storytelling. Stories have a unique ability to captivate an audience, evoke emotions, and leave a lasting impression. When you tell stories in your captions, you transport your followers to the world of horses, making them feel like they are right there with you.

Why Storytelling Matters in Instagram Captions

Instagram is a platform where visual storytelling reigns supreme. However, written storytelling is equally important. Captions allow you to provide context, convey emotions, and share experiences that complement your images. Storytelling adds depth and personality to your posts, making them more relatable and memorable.

Imagine sharing a photo of a majestic horse in mid-gallop. A well-crafted caption can transform this image from a simple snapshot into a narrative that describes the power, grace, and freedom you feel when riding. Your followers will not only see the image but also sense the exhilaration of the moment.

Choosing Relatable Horse-Related Anecdotes

To harness the full power of storytelling, select anecdotes and experiences that are relatable to your audience. Consider moments that fellow horse lovers can identify with or aspire to experience. Share personal stories of your journey in the equestrian world, whether it’s a heartwarming bond with a specific horse or an inspiring tale of perseverance in training.

For instance, recount a day when your horse unexpectedly demonstrated their intelligence, or describe the emotions you felt during your first horseback ride. These anecdotes make your captions more engaging and invite your followers to share their own similar experiences.

Using Narratives to Create Emotional Connections

Emotion is a potent element in storytelling. Whether it’s the excitement of a competition, the bond with your horse, or the serenity of a quiet ride through the countryside, infuse your captions with the emotions you experience. By doing so, you connect with your audience on a deeper level because they can relate to the passion and sentiment that horses evoke.

Take your followers on a journey by describing the sights, sounds, and feelings you encounter. Describe the scent of hay in the barn, the sound of hooves hitting the ground, and the warmth of your horse’s breath. These sensory details transport your audience to the world you’re sharing, forging a connection that goes beyond the visual.

In the world of Instagram captions, storytelling is your secret weapon to create captivating content that resonates with horse lovers. Use the art of storytelling to weave narratives that transport your followers to the equestrian world, and watch as your engagement gallops to new heights. Next, we’ll explore how to showcase your passion for horses through your captions.

Trotting is a type of horse riding gait where the horse moves in a two-beat diagonal pattern. The trot consists of two periods, one period when the left front leg and right rear leg move together and then another period when the right front leg and left rear leg move together. Trotting is often used as a training exercise to help horses learn how to respond to their rider’s commands and cues. It can also be used as a faster form of horse riding, allowing the rider to cover more ground quicker than other gaits such as walking or cantering.

How to learn to trot on a horse

If you’re a beginner looking to learn how to trot on a horse, the most important thing is to practice and become comfortable with the basics of riding first. Spend some time getting used to how your horse moves and responds, as well as getting accustomed to controlling them with only your legs. Once you’ve mastered the basics, you can then start to practice trotting. Start by doing short and slow trots, gradually increasing the speed as you become more confident in your riding.

It is also important to remember that horses should never be forced into trotting as this can lead to an uncomfortable ride for both you and the horse. Make sure that you reward your horse after each successful trot, as this will encourage them to keep trying and eventually master the skill. With practice and patience, you’ll soon be able to trot on a horse with confidence.

Common Mistakes

There are common mistakes that beginners make when trying to trot a horse for the first time:

• Not keeping your hands relaxed on the reins. If you grip them too tightly then this can cause discomfort and pain for the horse, as well as making it more difficult to guide them in the direction that you want.

• Not using your legs to control the horse. Your legs are one of the most important tools when it comes to controlling a horse, so make sure you’re using them correctly.

• Not looking ahead of the horse. When trotting, be sure to look ahead and anticipate any changes in direction or speed. This will help you stay in control and also make it easier for the horse to respond to your cues.

• Not sitting back in the saddle. Sitting too far forward in the saddle can cause you to lose your balance and make it difficult for you to guide the horse.

• Not rewarding your horse after each successful trot. When learning how to trot on a horse, it’s important to reward your horse with a pat or special treat after each successful try.

How to trot on a horse: how to control a horse for beginners

To trot on a horse, you’ll need to have basic knowledge of how to control a horse. The important thing is to stay safe and be in control of the situation at all times. Here are some tips for controlling a horse while trotting:

• Make sure that the saddle fits properly and isn’t too tight. This will make it easier for you to move in the saddle and stay balanced while trotting.

• With your hands, hold on to the reins lightly but firmly. Don’t grip them too tightly or allow them to become too loose as this can lead to an accident.

• Sit back slightly in the saddle and keep your legs down. This will help you stay balanced and also prevent the horse from going too fast or becoming unruly.

• Keep your body relaxed as much as possible. Your arms should be slightly bent, and your feet should be pointing slightly downwards towards the ground.

• When trotting, lean forward slightly and look ahead of the horse. This will help keep your balance and also allow you to anticipate any sudden stops or changes in direction.

• Use your legs to gently squeeze the sides of the horse, indicating which direction you want it to go in.

Our Conclusions

Learning how to trot on a horse can be an exciting and rewarding experience for both you and your horse. By following the tips listed above, you’ll soon be able to control your horse with ease and confidently enjoy trotting together. Just remember to keep your hands relaxed, use your legs correctly, look ahead of the horse and sit back in the saddle. Finally, don’t forget to reward your horse after each successful trot – they deserve it! Good luck and happy riding!

Equestrianism is one of the oldest and most expensive sports in the world. It involves riding horses for various reasons, from show jumping to dressage to pleasure riding. This sport requires a great deal of dedication, skill and money. The costs of equestrianism can be daunting for many people, but for those who are passionate about the sport and willing to invest the time and money, it can be a rewarding experience.

The cost of equestrianism starts with purchasing a horse. Depending on the breed, quality, and age of the horse, prices can range from a few thousand dollars to hundreds of thousands. Additionally, stabling and care costs must be factored in. Boarding a horse can cost between $200 and $1,000 per month depending on the services and facilities provided. Other costs include veterinary care, farrier services, feed and supplements, tack, and riding apparel.

In addition to the financial costs, there are other investments that must be made in order to be successful in equestrianism. Riders must develop their skills through lessons and practice. Training is essential to developing a strong bond between horse and rider, as well as creating trust between them. Additionally, riders must stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and strategies for various disciplines.

Competition costs can also add up quickly. Entries for events such as show jumping or dressage can range from $50 to $500 depending on the level and type of competition. Additional fees such as stabling and transport may also be required.

Overall, equestrianism is an expensive sport that requires a significant financial commitment from those who participate. However, the benefits of participating in this sport are well worth the investment for many riders. From the strong bond formed between horse and rider to the camaraderie shared with fellow equestrians, the rewards of equestrianism go far beyond monetary value.

The High Financial Demands of Equestrianism

Equestrianism is one of the most popular sports in the world and can be an incredibly rewarding experience for those who take part in it. But, as with any sport, there are high financial demands associated with equestrianism that must be taken into account when considering taking part in the sport.

The cost of purchasing a horse and necessary equipment can be quite high. Horses are expensive to buy and maintain, and the cost of necessary equipment such as saddles, bridles, and other tack can add up quickly. The cost of feed, bedding, and veterinary care must also be taken into account. Additionally, those who wish to compete in the sport must pay entry fees and travel expenses.

The cost of boarding a horse can be quite high as well. Boarding a horse at a stable or equestrian center will usually include the cost of feed, bedding, grooming, and other services. Some facilities will also require a monthly or yearly membership fee. Additionally, if the horse is boarded away from home, there may also be additional costs for transport or stabling.

Finally, there are the costs associated with training and competing in the sport. Professional trainers can be quite expensive, and many people opt to take lessons from amateur riders or instructors. Fees for entering competitions must also be taken into account.

In summary, equestrianism can be an incredibly rewarding experience for those who take part in it, but it is important to understand the financial demands associated with the sport before committing to it. Purchasing a horse and necessary equipment, boarding the horse, and training and competing in the sport can all add up quickly and should be taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to take part in equestrianism.

Breaking the Bank for Equestrianism

Equestrianism is one of the oldest disciplines in sports. It involves riding and training horses to perform various tasks, from dressage to show jumping, and has been a part of human culture since the dawn of civilization. Unfortunately, the cost of equestrianism can be prohibitively expensive for many people, making it difficult to get involved in this sport.

Fortunately, there are ways to break the bank when it comes to equestrianism. The first step is to find ways to save money on equipment and other necessities. This means researching the best deals on saddles, bridles, and other items needed for riding. Many riders find that second-hand stores and online classifieds are great places to find good deals on items like helmets, boots, and other protective gear.

Another way to break the bank is to look for discounts and specials offered by local horse farms, tack shops, and other businesses related to equestrianism. Many of these businesses will offer discounts on equipment or services when customers purchase items in bulk or at a certain time of year. Taking advantage of these deals can help riders save money on the essentials they need to get started.

In addition to saving money on equipment and services, riders can also save money by looking for deals on horse boarding, lessons, and other activities related to equestrianism. Many horse farms offer discounts for long-term boarding or lessons in exchange for volunteer work or other services. Additionally, some farms even offer discounted rates for members of certain groups or organizations.

Finally, riders can also save money by joining a local equestrian club. These clubs often host competitions and events throughout the year, which are usually free or low-cost for members. Additionally, members may receive discounts on boarding and lessons from local farms. Joining a club is also a great way to meet other riders and learn from experienced equestrians.

Breaking the bank for equestrianism doesn’t have to be an impossible task. By taking advantage of discounts and specials offered by local businesses, researching second-hand stores, and joining an equestrian club, riders can get involved in this exciting sport without breaking the bank. With a little bit of effort and creativity, anyone can become an equestrian on a budget.

Why is Equestrianism So Expensive?

Equestrianism is one of the oldest sports in the world and has been around for centuries. It is also one of the most expensive. Horse riding can be an expensive pastime for many reasons. From buying a horse to proper care and maintenance, horse ownership can come with a hefty price tag.

One of the most expensive aspects of equestrianism is buying a horse. The cost of a horse can range from a few thousand dollars for a basic riding horse to tens of thousands of dollars or more for a top-level show horse. Depending on the breed, age, and condition, horses can cost anywhere from $2,000 to $100,000 or more. Aside from the purchase price, there are also other costs associated with buying a horse such as vet bills and transportation fees.

The cost of maintaining a horse is another major expense. Horses require specialized care and attention, which can be costly. Grooming supplies, such as brushes, hoof picks, and clippers, are necessary to keep a horse looking its best. Additionally, horses need to be fed high-quality hay and grain to keep them healthy and fit for riding. Other costs include regular veterinary care, farrier visits, deworming, vaccinations, and more.

It also costs money to keep horses in proper housing. Stables are expensive to build and maintain and require regular cleaning and upkeep. Horses also need adequate space to move around and access to clean water. All these costs add up quickly and can make equestrianism a pricey hobby.

Competing in equestrian events is another cost associated with the sport. Competitions can be expensive because of the fees that are required to enter the event. Entry fees vary depending on the type of competition but can range from $25 to hundreds of dollars. In addition to entry fees, riders also need to factor in the cost of travel, lodging, tack, and clothing when competing at shows.

Finally, equestrianism requires specialized equipment that can be costly. Saddles, bridles, bits, boots, blankets, grooming supplies, and other items are all necessary for proper horse care and riding. Quality tack and apparel can be expensive but is important for safety and comfort for both rider and horse.

Overall, equestrianism can be an expensive sport but it doesn’t have to be. With careful planning and budgeting, it is possible to enjoy the sport without breaking the bank. By shopping around for horses, researching care options, seeking out discounts on supplies and equipment, and taking advantage of free or low-cost clinics or lessons, horse owners can save money while still enjoying their favorite sport.

Understanding the Cost of Equestrianism

The cost of equestrianism can be intimidating for anyone considering taking up the sport. The cost of maintaining a horse, caring for it and participating in competitions can add up quickly. However, with some research and planning, it is possible to keep the cost of equestrianism to a minimum.

To begin with, it is important to determine how much money you are willing to invest in the sport. This includes purchasing a horse and the necessary equipment, as well as any additional costs associated with training and competing. The cost of a horse alone can range anywhere from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the breed and quality of the horse. In addition, the cost of all necessary equipment such as saddles, bridles, blankets and boots must also be taken into consideration.

Once you have decided how much money you are willing to spend on equestrianism, you should research the types of horses that fit within your budget. There are numerous breeds of horses suitable for different types of riding and different levels of experience. If you are new to equestrianism, you may want to start with a more affordable horse such as an Arabian or a Mustang. If you are an experienced rider looking for a show horse, then you may need to invest in a more expensive breed such as an American Saddlebred or an Andalusian.

Once you have purchased your horse, there are still additional costs associated with caring for it. These include regular veterinary check-ups, vaccinations, deworming and hoof care. In addition, depending on your horse’s needs, you may need to purchase additional items such as grooming supplies, feed and hay. It is important to factor these costs into your budget when determining how much money you are willing to invest in equestrianism.

Finally, if you plan on competing in equestrian events or shows, there are additional costs that must be taken into consideration. These include entry fees for competitions as well as travel expenses if the event is located out of town. In addition, you may need to hire a professional trainer or instructor to help you prepare for competitions.

In conclusion, equestrianism can be an expensive sport but it doesn’t have to break the bank. With some research and planning it is possible to find a horse that fits within your budget and keep the costs associated with caring for it and competing at a minimum. While the cost of equestrianism can be intimidating at first, with proper planning it is possible to enjoy the sport without breaking the bank.

Vaulting (from French voltiger – to flutter) – a kind of equestrian sport, the essence of which is to perform gymnastic and acrobatic exercises (alone, in pairs and in groups) on a horse moving in a circle at a step or gallop.

One of the independent types of equestrian sports, united under the auspices of the International Federation (FEI). Until 1924, vaulting was represented in the program of the Summer Olympic Games. An athlete engaged in this kind of equestrian sport is called a vaultier. In the Soviet Union in this kind of equestrian sport medals were played in every championship. Currently, the International and European Equestrian Federations hold official championships and championships in vaulting for athletes aged adults (over 18) and juniors (under 18). Competitions are held among individuals (separately among men and women), duets (pas de deux), teams (group of seven people of different ages). The competitors have two programs in the competition: compulsory and free. The technical committee on vaulting of the International Federation of Equestrian sport strictly regulates the compulsory program, and free program makes up athletes themselves taking into account the level of training, the nature of the musical accompaniment and created by the artistic image. Competition costume usually emphasizes the nature of the presented program.

The specific peculiarity of vaulting is that an athlete must master both riding skills and mastering of his/her own body equally well. That is why athletes train in the arena, mastering mastery of horse control, riding in different gaits, performing the elements of dressage and in the gym, learning acrobatic and gymnastic elements and ligatures, jumps on trampoline. Initially it is advisable to study the technique of vaulting exercises on a special simulator, the so-called “standing horse”. As athletes gain experience and mastery master vaulting exercises at first at a simple gait (step) and then switch to a more difficult (trot, canter). International level competitions are only held on a galloping horse. The evaluation takes into account the complexity of the programs, the quality of performance and artistry of the athlete, as well as the quality of the allure of the sport horse and its obedience to the longhorn. Longeur – a person who controls the horse by means of the cord (long rope) and the whip. He is an integral part in training and competition. The longhorn also trains the horse to move at an even pace, without failure or acceleration, and trains it to have special stamina, calmness and good morals. Not every performance horse can be suitable for vaulting.

Driving
Driving or Sledding Competition – One of the disciplines of equestrian sport in which athletes (a horse handler and his assistant groom) participate in tournaments or competitions on harnessed horses. Depending on the number of harnessed horses in the carriage are divided into classes. The use of ponies is also allowed. In accordance with the rules of the International Federation of Equestrian Sport for “driving” to the official tournaments and competitions allowed to the four main types of harness as a horse and a pony. The official harness classes include:

  • Single sleds – 1 horse.
  • Pair teams – 2 horses harnessed in parallel one beside the other.
  • Tandem – two horses harnessed in a carriage one behind the other.
  • Quadrupeds – 4 horses harnessed in a carriage in pairs one after the other.
  • A driving tournament is a series of one or more types of driving competitions.

Modern pentathlon has its origins in the ancient world. Back then it included running, discus and javelin throwing, long jumping and wrestling. Today the pentathlon consists of show jumping, fencing, running, swimming and shooting. Both men and women compete in the event.

A little history
The complex of sports disciplines that includes horseback riding, mastering the sword and pistol shooting began to be used to train officers back in the 19th century. The pioneers in this area were the Swedes, and then their experience was adopted by other countries. This complex was called “officers’ pentathlon. It was included in the Olympics in 1912 and became a permanent part of the Olympics.

In the 40s of the 20th century, the discipline was renamed into pentathlon. And in 1948 the International Modern Pentathlon Union began its work in the capital of Great Britain, which was renamed the International Federation 40 years later. Since 1949 world championships in pentathlon began to take place. The first was held in Stockholm.

For a long time, the Swedes traditionally won the championship in international competitions. But since 1950 they were squeezed by athletes from Hungary and the Soviet Union. They won several times in a row both in team and individual events.

For a long time, the discipline was considered only for men. Women’s International Championships have been held since 1981, and women’s teams have been competing in the Olympics only since 2000.

The modern Olympic program differs significantly from the original. The duration of the sword fight was reduced from 3 minutes to one, the racing course now has a length of 0.6 km. The disciplines during the competitions may alternate in any order, but all are held on the same day. The last athletes compete in cross-country and show jumping.

Rules
The Pentathlon is evaluated according to a scoring system: points are awarded to athletes for each discipline and then added together. The maximum number of points for show jumping is 1200, and for the other components of the program – 1000. If an athlete exceeds the set standard, he or she earns additional points. Accordingly, if he/she does not achieve the set result, he/she loses points. The athlete who earns the maximum number of points, gets the right to start first in the race.

Shooting
Competitors shoot with a 4.5 mm air pistol at a stationary target at a distance of 10 m. The target has a diameter of 155 mm and consists of 10 concentric circles, numbered 1 to 10. Which circle the athlete hits, that is the number of points he earns per shot. If he hits the separating strip between the circles, he scores more points.

They shoot from a standing position, holding the gun with one hand. And this is quite difficult, because despite the small mass of the gun (1.5 kg) it is not easy to hold it during the whole allotted time. And any devices that support the hand with the pistol when shooting are not allowed.

Swimming
The water course has a length of 200 meters. Free style is used to overcome it. The start is according to the ranking of the athletes. The pentathlon establishes a certain ratio of time and points in swimming: overcoming the distance in 2:30 minutes by athletes and 2:40 by athletes counts for 1000 credit points. For every 0.3 seconds above, an additional 4 points are added, and for every 0.3 below, the same number of points is deducted.

Fencing
Athletes fight each other with epee in a circular system. Duration of the fight is up to the first prick, the maximum time is 1 minute. You can aim at any part of the body of your opponent, the shot is recorded with special equipment. If no one is hit, no one is awarded the win.

The athlete receives points based on the number of wins. If he wins 70% of fights, he earns 1000 credit points. Winning a fight over the limit brings 28 extra points, and each defeat over the limit entails the removal of points in the same amount.

Cross Country
The race is held on a cross-country or stadium track. This is the last event in the order of precedence. The length of the route is 3 km (4 laps). Based on the number of points earned by athletes in previous events, the order of start for each participant is determined. The one who takes the leading position starts first, then the athlete who has shown the second result runs and then the same principle.

Based on the results of the race, the winner of the tournament is determined at once, there is no further recalculation of points. A joint start is also allowed. In this case 1000 valid points are awarded in a time of 10 min. for men and 11 min. 20 seconds for women. A lesser time adds points and a greater time takes away points accordingly.

Equestrian cross-country, as an independent sport, is extremely rare. As a rule, it is part of the equestrian triathlon, namely its second stage. Cross-country is the overcoming of natural obstacles in a natural environment – ascents, descents, small rivers, ditches, earth embankments, fallen trees, logs, hedges, etc. As a separate discipline it is known as “cross-country” which competitions have local character and are not represented at federal or international level.

The length of the cross-country course is about 6 km. There are 24 to 36 obstacles on it. They can be natural or built in such a way that their appearance is as close to the natural as possible. For their arrangement we use logs, ditches, branches, trees, bushes, water.
All obstacles on the route are marked in a special way. Two flags are used for this purpose: a red flag is placed on the right side of the obstacle and a white one on the left. On red flag there may be a black stripe that means a rider may choose a different route around this obstacle and there will be no penalty. But it will be more time consuming.

The complexity of obstacles is achieved not by their height (maximum allowed – 1200 cm) but by their location, consistency and other features of the terrain design. All obstacles on the route, unlike courses for show jumping, are not destroyed when the horse touches them. They are called “dead”.

Each obstacle has a number marked with a color. The color of the marking indicates the level of the obstacle. The levels compete with each other. All obstacles and their levels are presented on a route map, which all riders should study before starting the race and also check during the race.

The equestrian crossing takes place outdoors, and the terrain includes both field and wooded terrain. A new terrain is chosen for each race, so the equestrian triathlon always takes place in different regions and even different parts of the globe.

As it was already said, natural obstacles on the route are supplemented by artificial ones, which are as close to natural as possible. This is done by designers. Their task – to organize obstacles so that a less experienced pair (horse + rider) on the lower levels could be prepared to overcome more difficult obstacles. Or on the contrary, to make it more difficult to take this or that obstacle for more professional competitors. For example experienced planners often place an obstacle on the side of a hill or on top of an earthen berm so that the horse cannot see in advance where he is jumping. A fence may also be placed in front of the beginning of a wooded area for the same purpose.

Terrain design is done correctly if obstacles are incorporated into the landscape in such a way that they appear to have been created by nature itself. They must also be placed so that the horse can escape when the rider makes a mistake.

Competition Rules
The equestrian crossing begins with the rider on the horse in a special starting box. The countdown begins, during which the pair is not allowed to go to the front of the box. Then the start signal is given and the participants get in motion.

The first obstacles on the course are usually easy. They allow the horse and rider to gain confidence and gain the necessary speed. They are galloping. Gradually the level of fences increases and ditches, banks etc. appear. Both of them require more technique from the pair and the rider’s correct work is especially important here. As a rule, pre-finish obstacles are a bit lighter allowing the competitors to develop the required pace before the end of the race to determine the winner.

Criteria for evaluating the results are the time of overcoming the distance, the levels of obstacles taken, as well as the number of penalty points accrued.

Penalties are imposed in the following cases:
Disobedience of the horse (1st refusal to take an obstacle – 20 points, 2nd – 40 points, 3rd – disqualification of the pair). If the height of an obstacle does not exceed 30 cm, the horse is allowed to jump from the spot. In all other cases, stopping in front of an obstacle is considered a refusal. A horse may also take a step to the side and a step backwards is regarded as a refusal to take the obstacle.
If an obstacle is overcome out of order, it is deemed to be a disqualification.
Jumping over the fence in the wrong direction as indicated in the movement diagram – disqualification.
Falling from a horse – disqualification. Rushing from a horse is permitted at any time on the course, but it must not be related to taking an obstacle.
Exceeding the time limit on the course – 0.4 penalty points for each additional second. Exceeding the limit by 2 times entails disqualification from the competition.

Trotting – tests of horses of trotting breeds for agility in trotting. Usually horses are tested harnessed to a trotter, a special two-wheeled carriage designed for trotting. Less commonly, trotting is done under saddle. The person who drives the trotter (in the rocking carriage or in the saddle) is called the rider.

Originally, light-driven horses with a steady trotting course were specially bred for transportation of people in the XVIII-XIX centuries. As the quick trot is considered an artificial allure, which is not capable of every harness horse, people tried to identify horses which were actually capable of a quick trot by testing, so that the animals selected based on the results of these tests could be sent to the breed. The first trotting races were held in the Netherlands in 1554. Then such trials began to take place in England, where they tested the famous and frisky at the time Norfolk trotters and in France, where Norman horses ran. Initially, horses were tested at a trot only under saddle, and in France this tradition has been preserved to this day. The first American trotting races in the United States in 1806 were also held under saddle.

Today, horses of several trotting breeds are tested around the world. In the United States, Canada and most European countries, American trotters are tested. In France, French trotting horses are tested for the most part, as well as French-American crossbreds. In Scandinavian countries in addition to the prize trotters – American and Franco-American, local trotters are tested. These are the so-called Finnish, Swedish and Norwegian cold-blooded horses. The trotting rules vary slightly from country to country, but most of the rules are the same. Trotters come to the racetrack at the age of two, their prime age is 2-3 years (the U.S., Canada), 4-6 years (some other European countries), 6-10 years (France, Sweden). A trotter finishes his racing career at the average age of 8-12 years. Each hippodrome has its own age limitations, for example on Vensen hippodrome trotters can not perform over 10 years old and on many Swedish hippodromes trotters can run successfully at 12 and 14 years old. The competition of a group of trotters on the racetrack is called “race”. The horse in the race should run a clear stable trot. Switching to a gallop is called a failure. In some countries, the failure immediately disqualifies the horse.

Receiving the start in different countries, or even on the same racetrack is different. In the U.S., Canada, trotters mostly take the start with an autostart – a special machine that aligns the race participants behind them, distributes them according to their numbers and accelerates them before the start to the maximum speed. Autostart car was invented in the 1930s in the United States, thanks to this method of starting is almost impossible false starts and loss of time due to poor acceleration. In Europe autostart is also used, but often also trotters start with a voltstart, i.e. they start by running out of the turn. In this case, false starts are much more common, an even start is determined by the laser beam.

The distances at which trotters are tested also vary depending on the country where the race takes place. For example, in the U.S., most of the trotters are tested at a short distance of 1 mile (1609 m). In Europe, the races at such a distance is very small, there trotters are running at medium to long distances: from 2100 m to 4125 m.

Riding horses participate in the race, during the trials they gallop, they are controlled by jockeys, they sit in the saddles. It is impossible to say “this trotter won the race” because trotters do not participate in races.
